Probably Stolen Best Mods Guide

Quick answer

For a first modded run, install Item Details, Client Demand Highlight, Shutter Events and Smart Inventory Arrange. For a profit run, add Appraisal Assistant, Bargain Panel On The Left and WaterTower. For a new experience, Brewing Expansion and Probably Multiplayer are the big overhauls. Install one at a time and restart after enabling.

Probably Stolen's Workshop opened with the 1.0 launch and has grown past 1,000 items in the first week. Most are translations, small tweaks or duplicate QoL tools. The best mods are not the ones with the most subscriptions; they are the ones that change a decision you actually make.

This page is the overview. The QoL mods guide covers interface tools, the economy mods guide covers profit changes, and the Brewing Expansion guide covers the largest content mod.

Subscription counts are the 2 November 2026 snapshot. They measure adoption, not quality.

Best mods for a first run

A first run should reduce friction, not change the economy.

  1. Item Details — the single best information mod. It shows authenticity, true value, hidden information and flags wanted or augmented customers. It supports all 11 languages and uses the native mod system.
  2. Client Demand Highlight — outlines the customer's wanted goods in green (normal), amber (stolen) and red (contraband). During inspections it only marks stolen and contraband. Hotkey F5.
  3. Shutter Events — before you open, the shutter sign lists today's events, their price effect (for example +25% weapons) and the days left. Red is a price increase, green a decrease.
  4. Smart Inventory Arrange — right-click an empty slot and choose smart arrange; identical items line up in rows. F6 opens the settings and lets you bind a hotkey.
  5. Reputation Pop — shows the actual reputation change after a trade, colored by faction. Useful for learning which customers you are pleasing.

These five do not add content. They make the existing systems legible, which is exactly what a first run needs.

Item Details vs Appraisal Assistant: both reveal authenticity. Item Details puts the information in the tooltip; Appraisal Assistant uses the magnifier and adds a warning for augmented or wanted customers. Pick one for a first run. Running both is redundant and can clutter the UI.

Best mods for a profit run

  • Appraisal Assistant (3828921912) — the magnifier route to authenticity and true value. It breaks down base value, modifiers and minimum price.
  • Bargain Panel On The Left (3829267478) — the haggle panel moves left, which keeps the customer and the price in one view.
  • WaterTower (3829418556) — a buyable machine with a 16×18 work area, 600L tank and three filter slots in series. It collects water nightly and logs it.
  • Better Water Trading (3828878417) — water quality scanning, vanilla labels and filter maintenance.
  • Proficiency System (3828910575) — adds planting and chemistry categories, nursery discounts and harvest trading.
  • CorpPresence (3828913695) — brings the vanilla corporations onto the station; tune the strength in settings.

The economy mods guide explains which of these actually change margin and which only save clicks.

Best mods for a new experience

  • Brewing Expansion (3829730904) — the biggest content mod: 180 new items, 16 seeds, 18 fruits and special ingredients, 67 wine recipes, growing, mixing, automation and aging.
  • Probably Multiplayer (3828909239) — visit other players' shops at night, serve real customers by day, chat and bargain, public matchmaking and private rooms.
  • Lucky Perk Plus (3829223778) — the Lucky perk gives 50 luck instead of 5, with a slider from 5 to 100 and an extra 0–99,999. It changes inspections, scavenging injuries, loot boxes, scratchers and the lottery.
  • Free Starting Perks (3828870935) — removes the perk point and count limits and can ignore mutually exclusive perks. It is a cheat mod, and it is fun.
  • DangpuPlus (3828893950) — 40+ features in one: one-click appraisal, demand highlight, auto battery, rat/fish/brewing/hydroponic dashboards.

These are the mods to install after you have played the vanilla game. They change the run, not just the interface.

Best mods for a challenge run

  • Free Starting Perks — build a Rock Bottom opener with more perks, or a self-imposed restriction.
  • Lucky Perk Plus — make luck a real stat, then lower it to 5 for a harder run.
  • CorpPresence — more corporate pressure on the station.
  • Proficiency System — longer progression, more categories to level.
  • Aug Menace (a perk, not a mod) — not a Workshop item, but the closest thing to a built-in challenge modifier.

The modded run pack combines ten of these into a stable load order.

How to install Workshop mods

  1. Subscribe to the mod on the Steam Workshop.
  2. Launch the game and open the Mods panel from the main menu.
  3. Enable the mod. The game scans declared capabilities and shows them before approval.
  4. Restart the game when prompted.
  5. Load a save and check the mod's settings.

The 1.0.0.6 Modding Security Update changed the modding system on 31 October 2026. Mods updated before that date may not load. If a mod is missing from the panel, check its Workshop page for a 1.0.0.6 compatibility note.

Manual installs go in the Mods folder next to the game executable. Each mod is a folder with manifest.xml and its DLLs. The modding basics guide covers the structure.

Compatibility rules

  • One new mod at a time. If the game breaks, you know which mod caused it.
  • Read the last-updated date. A mod updated before 1.0.0.6 is a risk.
  • Avoid two mods that patch the same UI element. Demand highlight and DangpuPlus overlap; pick one.
  • Do not combine save editors with content mods unless you have a backup.
  • Restart after every enable/disable. The game asks; do it.

Mods to skip

  • Abandoned demo mods. The 1.0 modding system changed; demo-era mods are likely incompatible.
  • Translation packs for your language only. They are useful, but they are not gameplay mods.
  • "All-in-one" packs that duplicate installed mods. DangpuPlus is excellent on its own; do not stack it with five of its components.
  • Anything that promises "unlimited money" without a version note. It may corrupt the save.
